In 1982, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, graduating in 1987 in the class of Professor Frane Paro.

In 1988, he enrolled in postgraduate studies at City of London Polytechnic, Sir John Cass.

Josip stayed in London, working as a freelance artist until 1991 when he accepted a position as an advisor at the National Cartoon Company of Ireland, where he remained until 1995. In the same year, he started working as a life drawing lecturer at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology.

In 1998, he returned to London and immersed himself in the world of art. While maintaining presence in exhibitions, since 2008 he also dedicated significant time to collaborating with the Bethlem Gallery, actively fostering art practices and nurturing emerging artists within a hospital environment.

Although there were periods when his unwavering dedication led him to step back from his own public exhibitions, it never wavered in his commitment to his own craft as a visual artist.

From early this year he almost exclusively devotes his time to painting and sculpture making.

Josip's art has attracted widespread recognition, featuring in national and international exhibitions while finding a place in the collections of numerous art enthusiasts and collectors. Among them is the esteemed Mr. Arnon Milchan, also known as one of the biggest art collectors in the world, whose wisdom and boundless generosity have been a guiding light, inspiring Josip to wholeheartedly embrace his journey in the world of fine art.
